31 cent Ice Cream, anyone?

I just read on www.babycheapskate.com that tonight from 5pm-10pm that it's 31 cent ice cream at Baskin Robbins. I don't know about you, but even though it's snowing outside, I can handle 31 cents a person for some yummy ice cream! Just thought I would pass on that random middle of the week family night slump--let me know if you go and if it was worth it :)

There is also free ice cream at Haagen Daz on May 13th! (unfortunately I would have to drive all the way to boise-but some of you might have one close to home) You can get a scoop of their new flavor, Vanilla Honey Bee...put that on your calendar :)

Mommy Sanity

Sorry for so many posts in a day, but my brain is actually kind of working today :)

So, it's getting to SLOWLY be warmer weather and my sanity is hanging on by a thread. I don't know if it's me being super tired or if it's the kids with cabin fever or both, but I cannot seem to think of anything that will keep the kids happy and playing well for more than 2 minutes!
Are there any good solutions to how you keep your sanity on rainy, snowy, windy, sunny, warm days? Seriously, I sound like I don't know how to be a mom, but that is how I feel these days...how do you do it with a smile and look back on the day and not regret something? For those of you that are good at this (and I could name quite a few) what do you do? Help!

Couch Potato

The classics of Sarah. She is my lover of movies-she wakes up in the morning and before she even says good morning or smiles she is asking for a movie-usually "Nemo" or "Mermaid". She is such a funny kid. I finally captured a few pictures of her being the classic Sarah, couch potato!

she even has to have her fill before bed...holy cow!

Last Day!!!!!!

Way to go daddy, hubby, brother, son, grandson!!!

Jake finished his last day of classes yesterday and clinicals today! We are so happy to have our daddy back and to have him so happy with his success from the year. He looks as if he has lost all the weight of the world that he's been carrying for a year, it's great to see our daddy. Looking back over the year there were so many unannounced surprises and changes in life it's almost a wonder that we made it through so well, thank goodness we have the gospel in our lives and we know that the Lord is always watching out for us. Thank you all as well for your support and prayers on our behalf through this last year.

Congratulations Linsey and Austin!

These two were married on Saturday, April 12th in the Rexburg Temple. She (my cousin)from Michigan and he (one of my old RA's-that is not how they met though) from Washington-they have both been here since the ground breaking of the temple and thought that it would be the perfect idea to "seal" their love in a place that was special to them both.  What a great idea!It was a great day, a little windy, but the sun was actually out that day.  There were 26 weddings in the temple that day and they were the last ones-they saved the best for last!  They were sealed by one of the temple presidency members, who used to be an instructor at Ricks/BYU-Idaho-it was fun to hear his knowledge and the lessons he taught to all in the room.Jake caught some great candids-hope you all enjoy...his and her familybeautiful bouquetshe was a little dizzy and needed a break, but she still looks lovelycandid eye-to-eyestealing a kiss, nobody sees but Jake ;)

Adventures of the week

Spring is slowly settling in Rexburg and the last few days have been a rollar coaster of snow, wind, cold, sun, and warmth...for all of you familiar with this territory it's nothing new :)
I just thought I would share some fun pictures of the kids playing on the not so warm days at home. Enjoy!

Kayelynn received this awesome dancing mat and wand with a ballet DVD put to the Disney Princess songs for her birthday. She loves dancing and really liked the idea of dressing up like a ballerina (my new find will be for a "real" tutu) like they do on the video-thanks Grandma "Ana" for this awesome birthday gift!

Sarah needed a new carseat that wasn't so montrous-she loves it :)

Between Conference sessions on Sunday we went for a drive in the cold wind and decided to walk at the temple for a few minutes-it is so nice to finally see actual grass.

After we visited the temple we went driving up on the hill and saw this bunny hopping along the sidewalk and into someone's flower bed. We couldn't resist the temptation to take pictures...it was so neat, the kids loved it! (look really closely by the telephone pole) It was funny how it froze like a statue except it's nose, this kids laughed at that...

The kids were so antsy to go play outside I just had to take the silly picture of them, jackets and all!

School!!?!?!!

The official announcement is here...
JAKE WILL BE GRADUATING on MAY 6TH
(with a pinning ceremony on the 5th)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations!!! We are so proud of our daddy and husband.

He has really endured a lot to get this part of education behind him.

He has also received a very, very generous job offer straight out of school!
As part of the LPN program this semester, the students were put on 3 week rotations at certain clinics and hospitals in and around Idaho Falls. During the last part of February and first part of March Jake was assigned to a location in downtown Idaho Falls that is similar to a "doc in the box" clinic.
The first day he came home from the rotation he looked happier than he had all semester with the rotations he was doing, I asked him why and all he could say is "I love it there". They were so nice and things actually happened that he could assist in or learn something from. After the second day he came home and was practically bouncing off the wall-imagine a 6'5" 300+lb. man dancing down stairs and hopping in a basement apartment with 7' ceilings...that would be Jake. I was laughing so hard I couldn't even ask what was up...he had gotten a job offer on the spot!
The nurse manager was so impressed with him she asked what his plans were after graduation-and with nothing really seriously permanant he told her he was still looking, she stated that she and the staff would really like to have him as part of their clinic.
Well, after totally impressing his advisor and then turning in a impressive resume, he has now received a full-time job offer to begin basically the week he graduates! The best part about it, they offered to pay about $4-$5/hr. more than an average beginner LPN job with full benefits and additional paid training to achieve credetials only RN's usually can put on their resume's! AWESOME!!!!!!!
I am so excited for Jake to start a part of his life that he enjoys even more than now (come on, who really likes school without an ulterior motive?-ok, don't answer that).

With all my excitement for Jake I have recently realized (with the help of a letter from the State Board of Education), that I must take 6 credits by September 1st to keep my teaching certificate up-to-date. If not, then I will have to take 32 credits and take all the state exams again to be a "valid" teacher in the state of Idaho. So, with fire under my butt, I have applied to BYU-Idaho as a non-traditional student so as to take 6 credits and stay a "valid" teacher---after weighing all options I really think that will be a lot cheaper and less stressful than taking 32 credits down the road!
I received my "acceptance" letter today and will be taking classes from April 21st through July 19th (yeah, I know crazy! with a baby due only days after that...) but what do you do besides wish you would've been smart enough to take one class here and there since graduating 5 years ago!!! I guess that means I learned my lesson...I think I will be taking a class every semester so that when the next 5 years pass as quickly as these last 5 did, I can just turn in the paper and not worry about the actual classes...

So, Jake graduates and I start school again, what a combo we make!
But oh, so exciting!!!!!!!!!!!
HORRAY JACOB (and good luck me, HA)!!!
